Upon first reading the heading, it might not make sense as to why volunteering would be listed under the ‘finance’ section. Well, for starters, volunteering does not technically cost you any money – it will cost you time and maybe a bit of gas to get to and from the volunteering location – but overall, volunteering can be seen as having a low monetary cost. In addition to having a low monetary cost, volunteering is a great way to remind you of how fortunate you are to have the things you have.
During this time of year, we often get consumed with ‘consumerism’ and have tendency to place a high value on tangible items. This season, take some time to give back and spread positivity to those that may be having a difficult time in life.
Not that everything in your life has to be perfect to give back, the simple gesture of dedicating your time/energy to a cause greater than yourself can be valuable beyond monetary or tangible reward.
